Our History

From days on the lake in cottage country in the 1980s and 90s to today's revival, CHARGER Boats carries a genuine legacy.

Originally founded in 1979 by the Canzano brothers from Concord, Ontario, and together with a small team of dedicated employees (the Murphy brothers) and some visionary boat designers they built a model lineup that sold performed well against rivals. The original company ceased production in the early 1990s following an economic downturn and the co-founder's death. The brand lived on in collections, memories, and a lasting reputation for performance.

Today, we're bringing CHARGER Boats back! We're building new boats inspired by the original CHARGER spirit, with the first models now in production. The same lines. The same spirit. Just made with modern craftsmanship and care.

Timeline

1
1979

Company Founded

The Canzano brothers launch CHARGER Boats (MC Products Inc.) in Concord, Ontario. Designs are incorporated from Legendary Boat Designers such as Roak Summerford (Laser/STV) & George Linder (Challenger).

2
1980-1991

The Golden Era

Like the iconic muscle car era of the late 60s and early 70s the Golden Era of speedboat design and production was the mid to late 1980s. Hull designs were highly influenced by sanction racing leagues of the time, competition bred innovation and led to an explosion of new models. These new models found their way into the recreational boat segment complete with 1980s flair and colour schemes. This was the heyday of CHARGER and other brands alike.

3
1992

Production Ceases

Like many other classic boat brands the original company closes its doors during the recession of the early 90s. Mike Canzano passes away shortly after.

4
1992

The Tempest Era

The Stoss family (of tempest boats) acquires the CHARGER Boats brand and continues to build boats throughout the 90s and early 2000s.

5
2026

The Revival

CHARGER Boats is re-born under new ownership! A small team of Enthusiasts and industry professionals bring this iconic brand back to the market with a focus on precision and craftsmanship.
